This poem is about my struggle to find peace.  I am often flung into negative emotions and find myself grasping for things to calm and satisfy myself.  The poem tracks my pursuit of this peace and describes first the outward pursuit and then the inward one.  It resolves with my discovery that the satisfaction I want isn't found in external things but instead in an internal reality: intimacy with God.  Ironically, this internal quiet I am pursuing is facilitated by an external quiet and solitude.
