This was the first spoken word poem I wrote.  In 2014 a spoken word poet named Propaganda did a YouTube Contest where participants were supposed to perform a 90 second poem on identity.  I had never written any poetry like this before but felt a strong calling from God to enter.  I told God "yes, I am in." and then asked Him how He planned on me videoing it since I didn't know anything about video.  I happened to have dinner with a friend that night who mentioned that he was starting to do some video projects.  I asked him if he would be interested in shooting the video if I ended up writing something.  He said yes and the next day I sat down and prayed and asked God to give me the words if this was something He was calling me to.  Words started to flow into my mind and I wrote them down.   I memorized the poem over the next day and then we shot the video.  I didn't win the contest but that video got over 4,000 views during the contest and I got so much positive feedback about it.  I didn't even know I had a gift for lyrics at that point, I just felt that God had empowered me to make that one poem.  At that point I called the poem "Artist M.D." because it was my story as a doctor and an artist.  It was 4 years later before I started hearing Him calling me "Artist" as part of my identity and I began to embark on this Artist M.D. journey.  As I was finishing out the Moonshine Album it felt right to put this poem on there with a new cadence and some fresh music.  I was forced to choose a different name for the poem because I guess you can't have a track that is the same name as the artist.  So "Origin Story" seemed to fit.  This is the last poem on this album.  Thank you for listening.  Hope you enjoy :).
